Aboriginal led & neurodivergent informed support for children, young people and families in Whyalla
Wara Yindi Support Services provides culturally safe, trauma-informed programs that help children, young people and families build confidence, connection, practical skills and a stronger sense of wellbeing.
Founded by Jacinta Dempsey and Jayden Taylor, Wara Yindi was created in response to the gaps they had witnessed across youth, counselling, disability and community services. Too many young people were falling through systems that were not designed to understand their experiences, culture or individual needs.
Wara Yindi works alongside young people and families without judgement or pressure. Their approach is relational, culturally grounded and shaped by lived experience, recognising that meaningful support cannot be delivered through a one-size-fits-all model.
When someone connects with Wara Yindi, they can expect to feel welcomed, respected and understood. Young people are given space to be themselves, build trust and develop confidence at their own pace. Families receive clear communication, practical assistance and advocacy when navigating complex systems.
The team can also support families working through NDIS access, ECEI pathways, schools, health services and other community supports, helping make overwhelming processes feel clearer and more manageable.
Wara Yindi’s work extends beyond providing immediate support
Their goal is to create long-term pathways that help young people feel connected to culture, confident in who they are and capable of shaping their own futures.
Their growing Gap to Growth initiative is creating further opportunities for youth engagement, community involvement and local collaboration, with programs designed to strengthen wellbeing, leadership and connection.
Wara Yindi also provides culturally safe, trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming training and professional development for schools, workplaces and service providers. Custom workshops are available for organisations seeking practical ways to build more inclusive and community-aware practices.
