welcome to the whyalla collective.
we’re backing the people building whyalla
The Whyalla Collective exists to make it easier to discover, support and spend with local businesses.
Whyalla is full of people building things. Small businesses, creative ideas, community projects and new experiences. But for those things to survive and grow, people need to know they exist.
That’s where TWC comes in.
We’re building a platform that gives local businesses greater visibility, tells the stories of the people behind them and encourages our community to choose local whenever they can.
we’re getting more eyes
on local businesses
At the heart of TWC is our Whyalla Business Directory. A growing place to discover locally owned and operated businesses across the city.
But being listed is only the beginning.
Through social media, local storytelling, collaborations and community-focused content, we want to put Whyalla businesses in front of more people and give them opportunities to be seen, discovered and supported.
Because a thriving local economy starts with more of us knowing what’s available right here.
meet the founder
Sophie Hancock
Sophie is the founder of The Whyalla Collective, but at its heart, TWC has really grown from her love for Whyalla and a belief in what this community could be when we choose to back one another.
What started as a dream to create a physical space where people could come together has grown into something a little different and, in many ways, much bigger. Today, Sophie’s focus is on helping the people already building something here to be seen, supported and celebrated.
Through the TWC Business Directory, storytelling, community projects and initiatives like Wear the Change, she’s working to shine a light on local businesses and find practical ways to put money back into the hands of the people who make Whyalla feel like home.
The dream of a physical TWC space is still there. Somewhere for creativity, connection and community to come together. But TWC isn’t waiting for that space to exist before trying to make a difference.
For Sophie, TWC is about reminding people that there is so much worth supporting right here and showing what can happen when a community chooses to invest in itself.
